EARLY VOTING AT TEXAS WESLEYAN TUESDAY, OCT. 21 THROUGH THURSDAY, OCT. 23 After nearly two years of presidential campaigning, the 2008 general election is finally here. If you’re a Tarrant County voter, no need to wait in long lines on Election Day. You can vote right here on campus!
Texas Wesleyan is one of nine temporary early voting sites in Tarrant County, along with 37 other locations throughout the county. Any Tarrant County voter can vote at any early voting site in the county. On Election Day (Nov. 4), you must vote at the polling place associated with your precinct.
Early voting will be available 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. in the Brown Lupton Student Center (SUB) Tuesday, Oct. 21 through Thursday, Oct. 23. As at all early voting locations, voters must use electronic voting machines. Paper ballots are only available on Election Day.
If you’re a newly registered voter and your name does not appear on the list at the polling place, don’t worry. There’s been a backlog in getting everything ready for early voting due to large numbers of new registrations. Polling workers should be able to verify your registration by phone. If discrepancies arise, you can cast a provisional ballot that will be counted once your registration is confirmed.
The closest sites to Texas Wesleyan that will be open throughout early voting are: Southside Community Center at 959 E. Rosedale (Rosedale and New York Ave.) Griffin Sub-Courthouse at 3212 Miller Ave. Hours for both locations: Oct. 20-24 (M-F) 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Oct. 25 (Sat.) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Oct. 26 (Sun.) 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Oct. 27-31 (M-F) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
