INTERNATIONAL WEEK 2009: OCT. 19-23

International Week at Texas Wesleyan begins Monday, Oct. 19, with the grand opening of the new International Programs office and opening ceremony, and continues throughout the week with a variety of activities around campus.

MONDAY, OCT. 19

GRAND OPENING OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRGAMS OFFICE & OPENING CEREMONY

Help kick off International Week and celebrate the grand opening of the new International Programs Office. Everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy some light refreshments from around the world!

Location: Brown Lupton Building, North Wing

2-3 p.m. 

HELP DARFUR NOW

The purpose of the "Help Darfur Now" presentation is to bring about awareness of systematic genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. Included in this presentation will be a socio-historical and contemporary account of the situation in Darfur. We will also be showing part of the documentary, "The Devil Came on Horseback" which is an account of what is happening in 2009 Darfur.

Location: Ella C. McFadden Science Center (McF), Room 206

INTERNATIONAL MOVIE NIGHT

Watch and enjoy the 2008 internationally acclaimed "Slumdog Millionaire". This Danny Boyle film is about a Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers. Taste free Indian food and drinks. Sponsored by Student Life.
