COLORATURA SOPRANO ANDREA TALLADINO TO GIVE SENIOR RECITAL Coloratura soprano Andrea Talladino will present her senior voice recital, “Les chansons du printemps” (Songs of Spring), at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in Martin Hall. The spring-inspired program will feature the music of Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, and more. The concert will open with Charles Gounod’s rendition of Julliette before her tragic death in “Ah, je veux vivre” (I Want to Live) from Romeo et Julliette. The highlight of the evening will be the stirring and beautiful ‘mad scene’ from Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas. This piece, “Ah, vos jeux, mes amis,” re-enacts Ophelia’s tragic fall from sanity. The event will conclude with a riveting mambo, “Taki Rari,” featuring the Texas Wesleyan Jazz Combo. Talladino has been selected to perform at the President's Honors Concert for the past two years. The President’s Honors Concert was initiated in 1996 by Texas Wesleyan University to showcase the musical talent of select students and to acknowledge the University’s tradition of leadership in the arts. This senior recital is given in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. The concert is free and open to the public. Martin Hall is located at 1309 Wesleyan St. on the Texas Wesleyan campus.
