RSVP by Thursday, Jan. 24, at http://department.txwes.edu/jgalloway.
As we organize and initiate our Learning Communities for the freshman class of 2008, we will be providing a significant level of professional development for faculty and staff. We will learn more about the developmental and managerial issues associated with this initiative and related effects as well as curricular and pedagogical issues. Bringing faculty and students together into cohesive learning groups sharing academic goals and experiences, integrated closely with curriculum and support services, can then impact improved socialization and retention. With a focus on learning outcomes, Learning Communities will foster a highly integrated teaching and learning experience for both at-risk and mainstream students. Additionally, there will be a major focus on the use of technology professionally and pedagogically. Look for workshops and more already being announced.
To learn more about Learning Communities, visit http://www.txwes.edu/titleiii/. For more information about the conference, contact Jerry Galloway at jgalloway@txwes.edu or 817-531-6564. |
