Reed is the top-ranked female to compete. Already a four-time Olympian, Reed competed for Yugoslavia and won a bronze medal in women’s doubles at the Games in Seoul. She became a U.S. citizen in 1999 and competed for the U.S. Olympic Team in 2000 and 2004.

Hazinski also competed in the 2004 Olympics, and is an eight-time Junior Olympian gold medalist, and five-time under-22 year-old U.S. singles champion. On top of that, he is a two-time U.S. Doubles champion, two-time U.S. Singles finalist, and 2003 USA Table Tennis Player of the Year. He was bronze medalist at the 2007 Pan-American Games and was the Life-West Open Champion.

Texas Wesleyan alumnus Eric Owens, BS '06, will also be competing. Owens led Texas Wesleyan to third-place finishes at the 2002 and 2004 North American Open Team Championships and NCTTA collegiate titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The top-four finishers from the trials in each division will move on to the North American Trials, April 4-6, in Vancouver, Canada, where they will compete alongside Canada for the final Olympic selections. There are three North American spots for both men and women available for selection to the 2008 Olympic Games.  All three men’s positions will be decided in Vancouver, while just one more spot remains for the women.

New Smoking Regulations

Wesleyan flame logoThe City of Fort Worth has passed more stringent smoking regulations that apply to the University. The most significant change is that smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of an entry to a building. Subsequently, smoking is immediately disallowed within 20 feet of any University building. We will post no smoking signs on all buildings and will designate appropriate smoking areas as soon as possible. These areas will be identified by signs, usually on the back of a bench. As soon as these areas are identified, you will be notified. In the meantime, please discontinue smoking around entrances. Ashtrays, etc. will be removed from these areas. For additional information, please see the following website: http://www.fortworthgov.org/.
