Joe Brown Directs Driving Miss Daisy
Joe Brown, professor of theatre at Texas Wesleyan, is directing Artisan Center Theater’s production of Driving Miss Daisy, which runs until Saturday, March 1.
Set in mid-20th-century Atlanta, Driving Miss Daisy tells the story of an elderly Jewish matron, Daisy Werthan, and her chauffeur, Hoke Coleburn. At first, Daisy is none too happy about being forced to rely on a black man. But Hoke gradually wins her over, and during the 25-year span of the play the two develop a deep-rooted affection. Driving Miss Daisy is a delicate depiction of racial tensions and of growing old. Playwright Alfred Uhry has created two outsiders who come to a mutual respect based on their independence, strength, and stubborn integrity.
For more information about tickets and showtimes, visit Artisan Center Theater's web site. Reservations are recommended.
