In the News: Alumnus Mike Skipper on Good Morning Texas
Texas Wesleyan alumnus Michael Skipper, BA '78, appeared on WFAA's Good Morning Texas on Monday, June 23, to talk about his recent Tony Award wins for In the Heights. The musical, co-produced by Skipper, won four awards at the 2008 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations. | In the News: Kalpana Pai Helps Ring NYSE Closing Bell
Kalpana Pai, assistant professor of economics and finance, helped ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, June 23. Pai participated as part of the Teachers Workshop Program, which helps professors bring the stock market into their classrooms.

Sowell Receives Bishop's Award
Dr. Jesse Sowell, professor of religion, received the Bishop's Award for exemplary service in the field of ecumenism. The award was presented by the Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns during the annual conference of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, held June 2-4 in Fort Worth.

Katie Wheeler Joins Human Resources
The Office of Human Resources is pleased to welcome Katie Wheeler, administrative assistant, who joined the office June 9. In May 2008, Katie received her BBA in human resources management and a minor in economics from the University of Oklahoma. In her role as administrative assistant, Katie will answer general employment questions, assist new hires in establishing employment at the University, and maintain personnel records while providing general support for the department.
