WESLEYAN MUSIC STUDENTS PRESENT JUNIOR, SENIOR RECITALS Andrea Talladino, soprano and vocal performance major, will perform the works of living composers for her junior recital, "The Living Song." The recital will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in Nicholas Martin Hall on the Texas Wesleyan campus. Talladino transferred to Texas Wesleyan from Tarrant County College South Campus, where she studied voice with Darlene Marks. While there, she performed roles such as Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Sister Genevieve in Suor Angelica, and Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief. She presented solo recitals in 2004 and 2006. Talladino was awarded fourth place in the Senior Women’s division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Texoma region auditions in 2006. Talladino’s recent performances include an ensemble role in Casa Mañana’s production of Showboat. Upon graduation, Andrea plans to earn her Master of Music and pursue a career in opera. Mark Appling, guitar major, will present his senior recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, in Nicholas Martin Hall. Appling's recital will feature the music of Bach, Barrios, de Falla, Domeniconi, Giuliani, Sculthorpe, and Villa-Lobos. Appling graduated from Lake Country Christian School in Fort Worth, where he had developed and honed his musical skills. For four years, he participated in the Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He won first place in the category of string solo during his last two years and received a perfect score for his final performance. Appling began to study classical guitar with Michael Dailey at the Guitar Studio in Fort Worth as a high school sophomore. Strongly impacted by Dailey’s teaching style, Appling came to Texas Wesleyan to continue under his instruction. Appling has performed in the master classes for some of today’s leading guitarists, including Eduardo Fernandez, Tom Sheeley, Alfonso Moreno, Ana Vidovic, and Virginia Lugue. Appling is also a member of Guitar Orchestra Fort Worth and the Wesleyan Guitar Ensemble. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Nicholas Martin Hall is located at 1309 Wesleyan St. on the Texas Wesleyan University campus. For more information about the music program at Texas Wesleyan, visit their department web site. |
