WESLEYAN SINGERS AND WESLEYAN CHAMBER SINGERS IN CONCERT OCT. 25

Wesleyan Music presents the Wesleyan Singers and Wesleyan Chamber Singers in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in Martin Hall. Jerome Bierschenk, visiting assistant professor of music, will conduct and Natalia Katukova will accompany on piano.

Among the works to be performed by the Wesleyan Singers is Daniel Pinkham's Wedding Cantata. The text of the four-movement work is taken from the Bible's Song of Songs: "Rise Up My Love;" "Many Waters," "Awake, O North Wind," and "Set Me as a Seal." The Wesleyan Chamber Singers (formerly the Trouveres) will sing all a cappella works and specialize in a musical sound with a different texture than the larger choir, having only three singers to a part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). Soprano Julie McCoy, associate professor of music, will solo on "I Wanna Be Ready," a setting of the traditional African American Spiritual. The program will end with a stirring rendition of the early American Hymn tune, "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal" by Alice Parker.

The concert is free and open to the public. Nicholas Martin Hall is located at 1309 Wesleyan St., Fort Worth.
