ALUMNUS WALTER WYKES PLACES FIRST IN STAGE WEST'S TEXAS PLAYWRITING COMPETITION Texas Wesleyan theatre alumnus Walter Wykes, BA '92, won first place in Stage West's third annual Texas Playwriting Competition. Wykes' script, Certificate of Death, shares first place honors with Binge by Thomas Ward. Certificate of Death was also the winner of the 2009 Wesleyan Playmarket and was presented last May by the Theatre Department at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City. The original reading was directed by theatre professor Connie Whitt-Lambert and featured the talents of current students and alumni Joy Millard, Chase Burnett, Michael Kreitzinger, Erica Maroney, Cari Watson, Dillon Maroney, Ben Phillips, Alfredo Martinez, Johnny Gonzales, Christopher Hatcher, Robert Carroll and Ashley Moseley. Bartell's script was a runner-up for last year's Wesleyan Playmarket. Stage West will present a staged reading of Certificate of Death, Binge, and first runner up Hopelessly Puccini by Steve Lovett in May 2010. Online: |
