Whitney Myers, Ph.D. Educational Background Ph.D. in English, University of New Mexico, 2008 Academic Interest Dr. Myers enjoys teaching a variety of courses within the writing specialization of the English major, including composition and rhetoric, writing in the social sciences, indigenous rhetorics, composition theory, women’s rhetoric, and the history of rhetoric.Her secondary teaching interests include contemporary American literature and American Indian literatures. Dr. Myers research interests include feminist historiography, composition theory, and American Indian boarding school writing classrooms. Her dissertation constructs an archive of Albuquerque Indian School writing materials and develops a methodological framework for feminist historiographers and scholars studying writing and pedagogy in American Indian boarding schools. Dr. Myers holds membership in the National Council Teachers of English, Conference for College Composition and Communication, the Rhetoric Society of America, the Modern Language Association, and the National Coalition of Women Scholars in the History of Rhetoric. As a new faculty member at Texas Wesleyan University, she is excited about getting involved on campus and learning about students and the organizations they are part of! Dr. Myers is teaching the following courses this semester:
Personal Interests While not at Texas Wesleyan, Dr. Myers enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Elsa and Lilli, who are all adjusting to life with no mountains or green chili but lots of humidity and green grass. In her free time she absolutely loves to read, makes herself run, and looks forward to time at the coast, exploring Fort Worth, and visiting dear, extended family and friends. |
