Applying for Student Loans
Wesleyan now participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Programs. For more information about student loans available, refer to our Explore the Possibilities website information.  All processing of your student loans can now be done online, efficiently and timely. Follow the basic steps below to ensure that your student loan funds will be available to help you meet your educational expenses.
  1. Review your financial aid awards online via RamLink. New graduate and Law School students will receive award notification by mail. If you have been offered a Federal Subsidized Loan, Federal Unsubsidized Loan, and/or a Federal Grad/Plus Loan and want to receive these loan funds to help you meet educational expenses, simply follow the process below.
  2. If you want to cancel or revise the amount of your federal student loans, just let us know! Your request must be in writing and can be sent via e-mail to our office.
  3. Go to: www.studentloans.gov
    1. SIGN IN. You need to use your FAFSA PIN (the PIN number you use to file your FAFSA) to access your information and to sign your MPN. If you do not know your PIN, you can request a duplicate PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
    2. “Sign Master Promissory Note”. This is your Master Promissory Note for Federal Student Loans and you must complete a new MPN even if you have had student loans in the past.
    3. Grad/Plus Loans.  If you are applying for a Grad/Plus Loan, you will need to complete a separate MPN for the Grad/Plus Loan.
    4. “Entrance Counseling”. If this is your first time to attend college, or if you are attending a graduate program/Law School and you are applying for a Federal Grad/Plus Loan for the first time, you are required to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling. Your funds will not be disbursed to your student account until the counseling information has been completed.
