Grants

Grants are awarded to students based on their eligibility as calculated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must submit the FAFSA every year to be awarded grants. Awards may vary from year to year depending upon the economic situation of the family.

Texas Wesleyan University participates in the following grant programs:

Federal Pell Grant

Pell grants are awarded to undergraduate students who meet the eligibility criteria established by the federal government.  The amount awarded can vary each year and is determined by the results of the FAFSA.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The SEOG program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest EFCs will be considered first.

Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)

TEG provides grant funding to full-time, financially needy, Texas residents who are not receiving an athletic scholarship. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be awarded TEG.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

ACG is awarded to full-time, undergraduate students who are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant and who had successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education.  Second year students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)

A National SMART Grant will provide up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth years of undergraduate study to full-time students who are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences; mathematics; technology; engineering; or in a foreign language determined critical to national security.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

The TEACH Grant program provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
