Network, E-mail, and ID Accounts

IT provides information technology accounts to university faculty, staff, and students enrolled in classes at TW for the purpose of supporting instructional, research, and administrative activities.

These include:

Campus Network
E-mail
Shared Drive
Wesleyan Information Network (WIN)

TW provides current faculty, staff, and students photo ID cards with electronic identity accounts through the Wesleyan ID Center located on the 1st floor of the EJW Library.

Go to the Wesleyan ID Center page.

Naming Convention for Accounts

User IDs and e-mail addresses are created according to the name from TW’s official employee or student records. The standard naming convention is: first-initial + last-name or first-initial + middle-initial + last-name

If a user ID is already in use, it will be necessary to add a number indicating the year when the person was first register/employed to the end of the last name to make it unique. Examples of this naming convention are jsmith, jasmith, and jsmith06.

Lost or Forgotten User IDs

Lost or forgotten user IDs can be retrieved by IT staff. The information technology account owner can request their user ID by visiting or contacting the Help Desk in EJW B-13. Account ownership will be verified using the official TW photo ID card.

For assistance, submit a technology support request online or call (817) 531-4428.

Password Expiration

The purpose of an information technology account password is to grant access to the account owner and restrIT it from others. As a security measure, information technology account passwords expire on a regular basis and must be changed from a location on campus. It is the responsibility of the account owner to make the password something that is easy to remember but difficult for someone else to guess.

Password Reset

TW employees can request a password reset by visiting the Help Desk in EJW B-13. TW students can request a password reset by visiting the Wesleyan ID Center located on the 1st floor of the EJW Library. Account ownership will be verified using the official TW photo ID card.

For assistance, submit a technology support request online or call (817) 531-4428.

Go to the Wesleyan ID Center page.

Name Change

User IDs and e-mail addresses can be updated when a user legally changes his or her name. Names must be changed in the official university records before the information technology accounts can be updated. To request a name change, complete the appropriate request form and submit it to the Help Desk in EJW B-13. Account ownership will be verified using the official TW photo ID card.

Go to the Student Name Change Request form.
Go to the Employee Name Change Request form.

Users are responsible for saving, then restoring, all mail and documents to a local machine prior to the accounts under the old user ID being terminated.

Account Termination

Information technology accounts are for the use of TW faculty, staff, and students currently enrolled in classes at TW. Access to a person’s network and e-mail accounts will be disabled when that person leaves the university or officially changes his or her user ID. To request an account termination, complete and submit the Account Termination form.

Once an information technology account is disabled, no individual will be able to access data stored under that person’s network or e-mail accounts without proper written authorization. It is the responsibility of the user to copy and save his or her important data before the account is terminated. After a 30-day transition period, all data stored under the terminated account is deleted.

Print Management

TW students are allotted 500 copies that may be used to print copies on university printers at no cost. Additional copies many be purchased and added to the user account at the circulation desk in the West Library.
