Dr. John Fisher, department chairman and professor of music at Texas Wesleyan University, coordinates studies in piano, composition and theory. Professional duties include piano instruction and performance, music theory and aural skills, form and analysis, orchestration and the music of women composers.

Fisher earned bachelor and master degrees in music from Indiana University in Bloomington where he studied with Robert Weisz, Karen Shaw and Jorge Bolet. He studied with James Avery and received a Ph.D. in music theory-composition from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Fisher also received instruction from Ludwik Stefanski at the State Academy of Music in Krakow, Poland. He has been a faculty member at Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana and music department chairman at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Dr. Fisher serves as department chairman and teaches piano, theory, composition and aural skills.
