"Having gone through the TIPS competition has given me valuable insight into various portfolio management techniques.  While the symposium was educational, I found its entertainment orientation beneficial in viewing a glimpse into the financial culture.  It has helped in shaping my own investment philosophy."

-Brent Santos

"Being a part of the TIPS group was an excellent experience, fun, and it is something that I feel will benefit me in the future.  Presenting and seeing how other schools manage their endowments was a great learning experience as well.  The speakers were also very good because each spoke about topics that were interesting and brought different perspectives. "

-Megan Krause

"Participating in the TIPS competition was amazing. It was very interesting to see different ways students from different schools managed their Student held portfolios. It was very exciting to present our portfolio which has had amazing returns. For the year of 2007, The Texas Wesleyan Graduate portfolio had total returns of 9.94% compared to 5.81% on our benchmark, making a difference of 4.13% that our portfolio outperformed its benchmark. For the three-year period, our portfolio yielded an average annual return of 10.14% while the benchmark returned 9.16%. As a whole we have outperformed the benchmark repeatedly.  It was a great experience and I learnt so much."

-Leyla Mohamed

"The Texas Investment Portfolio Symposium introduced me to other school's portfolios and valuation techniques. I looked at it as a learning experience into the work of being a Financial Analyst. The learning experiences is something I will take on with me post-graduation into my career."

-Weldon Bomar

"The symposium opened up several opportunities to our students: to hear and to network with practitioners in the investment field, to meet students and faculty from other schools, to learn about the student managed portfolio programs at other schools and to make a presentation about our program at Texas Wesleyan."

-Dr. Tom Klaasen
