Carlos' first year at Texas Wesleyan brought him many close matches and heated tournaments.

At the 2005 Texas Wesleyan Fall Open, he squeezed out a 186-point, 1 hour and 50 minute win over teammate Dinko Kranjac 4-3 (11-4, 9-11, 12-10, 30-32, 10-12, 11-8, 14-12) to qualify for the Open Singles semifinals. 

In collegiate competition, Carlos placed fourth in Men’s Singles at the 2006 Collegiate Nationals.  He recorded runner-up finishes at the 2006 Missouri Winter Games in Open Singles and at the 2005 San Diego Open in Under-22 year-old Singles.

 

VARSITY

Carlos is a junior majoring in international    business.

Carlos was a member of the Ram team that advanced to the Elite Division quarterfinals at the 2005 North American Team Championships.

This year he won Open Doubles with teammate Dinko Kranjac at the Austin Fall Open.

Carlos has been a member of the Mexico National Team for the past seven years (1999-2006).  He has competed in the past three ITTF World Chmpionships.

 

In October he was crowned 2005 Mexico Nationals Doubles Champion.  

In 2004 he was the Under-21 Mexico Singles champion, Under-21 Central America Championships runner-up, and Under-21 Latin America Doubles Champion.  Chiu competed on the Brazilian Pro Tour in 2003 and ranked as high as #16.
