Theatre Wesleyan presents: Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Something wicked this way comes this spring when theatre Wesleyan presents William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Directed by senior theatre major Chris Hatcher, this production of Macbeth promises to hold up the reputation of Shakespeare’s bloodiest play. After an eerie encounter with three witches, Macbeth (senior theatre major Chase Burnett) makes a violent run for the throne, urged on by his fierce female companion, Lady Macbeth (senior theatre major Cari Watson). He begins to lose allies, as well as his sanity, in his mad quest for power. Even the threat of the approaching English army cannot squelch Macbeth’s bloody ambitions, which eventually destroys all he holds dear.

The Wesleyan theatre is transformed into a war-torn landscape that sets the tone for the sorcery, sword fighting, and seduction of power that rule the world of Macbeth. The tyrant abides within the Thad Smotherman Theatre; do you dare join him?

Macbeth runs February 18th-20th and February 25th-27th at 7:30p.m. and Sunday, February 28th at 2:00p.m. Tickets are $8.00 general admission, $6.00 for Wesleyan faculty and staff, and $4.00 for all students with ID and seniors 65 and up. The box office will open on Tuesday, February 16th. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday 1:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. and one hour before curtain on performance days.
