Fort Worth – October 13, 2006 – Theatre Wesleyan continued its 2006-2007 season with the production of Educating Rita by Willy Russell, November 9-19, 2006.

“I chose Educating Rita because it is a play with a number of familiar characters and ideas.  One character is an English literature professor; he's cynical and burned out.  The other character is a working class woman who demands that he teach her to see things in a new way.  And together, they discover the consequences of ‘teaching to the test’,” says director Jeanne Everton, Associate Professor of Theatre.

The Educating Rita production team included Wesleyan Alumnus Bryan Stevenson, Technical Director and Lighting Designer; Brynn Bristol, Instructor of Theatre, Scenic and Costume Designer; Rob Carroll, Sophomore Theatre Major, Properties Designer; Alfredo Martinez, Sophomore Theatre Major, Sound Designer and Max Marquez, Junior Theatre Major, Stage Manager.  Alumna Beth Hargrove was graphic designer and Theatre Professor Connie Whitt-Lambert served as production coordinator.

The production ran November 9th-11th and 16th-19th in the Thad Smotherman Theatre, located in the Law Sone Fine Arts Building, 1205 Binkley, on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University.
