
The Wesleyan PLAYMARKET 2007 Submission Guidelines
Theatre Wesleyan is seeking submissions of new full-length or one-act plays for presentation at
The Wesleyan PLAYMARKET at 37 ARTS May 18, 2007.
All Texas Wesleyan University alumni and current students are eligible to enter.
Rules for Submission:
-Playwrights should provide four (4) copies of each submission.
-Each playwright may submit up to three (3) scripts.
-The play(s) should be unpublished, in English, and must not have been previously performed, excluding workshop readings & Theatre Wesleyan productions.
-The play(s) may be either full-length or one-act and should have a running time of 20-120 minutes.
- Screenplays or teleplays, translations of another work, ten-minute plays, & musicals are not eligible.
-The script should be in standard playscript format in 12 point Times New Roman font.
-Pages should be numbered.
-Submissions should include the following:
a. title page with playwright’s name and all contact information (including phone numbers, e-mail address, mailing address)
b. a second anonymous title page with no playwright identification
c. a 150 word synopsis (not a promotional teaser)
d. character breakdown and given circumstances
e. a signed statement that the play has not been published or previously produced (except by Theatre Wesleyan)
-The number of actors needed for the concert reading should not exceed 10.
-We encourage all playwrights to submit double-sided copies of scripts in order to save both trees and postage.
-All entries will initially be read by a team of Texas Wesleyan University Faculty & Staff and other local Theatre professionals. Finalists will then be submitted to the producers of 37 ARTS for final judging.
-All entries should be mailed via USPS, UPS, FEDEX, etc and must be postmarked by December 15, 2006. No electronic submissions can be accepted.
-Selected playwrights will be notified by March 1, 2007 and must agree to attend the concert reading in New York.
-The selection process for The Wesleyan PLAYMARKET 2007 is a 3-month process. We will notify you by e-mail when we have received your submission.
-Due to limited resources, Texas Wesleyan University cannot cover the cost of travel or housing for selected playwrights.
-Please be advised that materials will not be returned.
