Learning Communities Students at Texas Wesleyan University now have a unique opportunity to be part of a Learning Communities program. This special program, funded by a federal grant, provides a wide range of support, service, academic opportunities, state-of-the-art technology, and dedicated advising.
There are seven limited-enrollment groups or "cohorts" for incoming freshmen for the 2009 Fall term. These groups share classes together and, as members of their own Learning Community, will experience a unified, common learning and educational experience. Students will be able to develop a social support network for study and fun. The fall semester LCs are combined with the Freshmen Orientation class, providing choice and self-determination for the new student. Our Academic Advisors are available to assist students interested in being part of this program. No complicated or special application process is required to be included in Learning Communities. While there are a limited number of slots available, during freshman advisement students can talk with their advisor to find out which LC Cluster best suits them. We are excited to be able to offer this new and highly acclaimed learning opportunity. |
