About the Weekend Program

The C. E. Hyde Weekend/Evening Program is designed for students who may need alternative scheduling because of jobs, family commitments, and other life circumstances. Wesleyan offers students the flexibility of attending weekend or evening classes, or for taking online classes in order to complete their degrees.

In 1994 Wesleyan received a generous grant from the C. E. Hyde Foundation to inaugurate the Weekend/Evening Program.  During the Spring 2008 semester, some 285 undergraduate students were enrolled in weekend classes.  We pride ourselves on meeting our students’ needs—and providing new course offerings, new technologies, and class meeting times that are more convenient.

The idea behind the Weekend Program can be simply put: the time it usually takes for students to learn material and concepts involved in a traditional college-level course can be organized in new ways so that classes which would customarily be spread out evenly over a fifteen-week semester are concentrated into seven intensive weekends.

Instructors require the same course work and textbooks for the Weekend  Program classes that they do for traditional day classes.  The students get personal attention because the instructors are here for them right before and after classStudents are expected to come to the first class with their assignment done.

Students can access syllabi through this website, online at http:\\web3.txwes.edu\wep. Hard copies may be copied at the West Lib. circulation desk.   When you read the syllabus, look for the first class assignment; prepare the assignment by reading the textbook and doing required tasks.
